After visiting Kate in New Zealand I flew over to Bali on my birthday to meet up with my sister who had been traveling throughout Southeast Asia the month of July. We spent two weeks together in Bali. She summed up exactly how I felt on my birthday card: “I’m so excited to come find you at the airport in just a few hours…having two weeks to hang out and explore beautiful islands on the other side of the world with my sister sounds pretty perfect to me. If I was stranded on a deserted island and could only have three things, I would pick YOU! A massive chocolate cake with passion fruit ice cream, and a load of brilliant fireworks to celebrate your birthday. Looking forward to sharing a brand new bright and shiny year with you. I only see beautiful things coming your way.” – Love Roxanne.
You too Rox. I feel so grateful for the memories we created.
….And the epic adventure begins!!!
One of our hobbit-esque nook overlooking the cliffs and sea…
The most impossible to find beach in the world. Took us 4 hours of driving around dodging motorcycles and roosters…and walking through cattle farms and cobblestone streets. Well worth it.
The infinity pool we discovered just wasn’t enough for my poor sis…
This is exactly what driving looks and feels like in Bali…
Balinese cremation ceremony we came across in a “traffic jam.” It was one of the most joyous occasions I have ever had the luck of attending. The ceremony represents the feat of their most sacred duty…returning all 5 elements of the deceased back to the cosmos.
Soccer team mob on the way to the beach!
